Hello TMMBA/HMBA/GEMBA/EMBA alumni-mentors and student-mentees,

We're so pleased you are part of our mentoring community this year. As you familiarize yourself with the site and as the program develops, feel free to reach out with any questions. We’re here to help!

Student-mentees: When matching occurs on October 30th, you can access the Connection (Engagement) Plan. This Plan provides structure and a simple way to engage through messaging, deadline tracking, and easy access to resources. The tasks and due dates are the responsibility of each mentee and will help improve productivity and outcomes.

We look forward to a fantastic year of new professional relationships. Mentoring matters!

FAQs:

What is the purpose of the mentoring program?
The primary purpose for students is career and professional development. Your mentor will provide genuine interest and valuable insights into areas that support your career growth and progression. This one-to-one student-alumni relationship is a high-value complement to other developmental activities, from a work project in a new functional area to professional coaching or a personal leadership development plan.

The program offers mentors an opportunity to contribute to the TMMBA/HMBA/GEMBA/EMBA programs and a student's career and life. Learn more about their interests and reasons for participating as a mentor through their online profiles.

Who participates in the mentoring program?
Currently, the program is available to TMMBA/HMBA/EMBA students in the second half of their MBA program and GEMBA students in their second quarter.

Who are the mentors?
We selected a group of TMMBA/HMBA/EMBA alum mentors based on their experience and backgrounds, commitment to the mentoring program, and dedication to the Foster School. Our mentors are highly respected business leaders across various industries and functions, including consulting, operations, marketing, data analytics, and entrepreneurship. As mentors, they will attentively listen to understand your needs and provide targeted feedback and encouragement to support your MBA career and professional development.

How can I learn more about the mentors and mentees?
This TMMBA/HMBA/GEMBA/EMBA Mentoring platform allows you to review the profiles of all participants, including their LinkedIn profiles. Please note: New student-mentees can view mentors' profiles starting October 9.

Will my mentor introduce me to their network and help my job search?
The program is not an employment-finding opportunity. Your mentor will primarily focus on supporting your overall professional development and sharing their valuable experiences. While mentors can offer general guidance on job-hunting, resumes, and interview preparation from their experiences, these should not be your primary focus with them. Use their valuable time for the guidance you can't gain from the numerous resources available.

Mentors can offer advice on the next phase of your career but cannot be expected to share their internal or external organizational connections. However, since networking is the number one way to find a great job, building a relationship of trust and respect is beneficial. This action could naturally lead to valued introductions.

Will the mentoring relationship end in June 2025?
Each mentoring pair is required to meet four times, with occasional email dialogue. This will provide at least three meetings before graduation, with a fourth meeting by June 2025.

While some pairs may choose to meet more often, we recommend discussing and agreeing on this with your mentor to ensure a productive experience. We anticipate some mentor-mentee pairs will continue their relationship beyond June. However, we encourage both parties to discuss and agree on this decision together to ensure it works for everyone involved.

Don't hesitate to contact any Career team member with questions about the program.
